Today 6 boys from Leopold ps attended the school surfing championships at Torquay. Conditions were bumpy yet enjoyable. What a day to spend at a sports excursion.
Congratulations to the 11 girls and 12 boys who attended the Geelong rugby gala day today. There were some tough competitors from all teams and our teams rose to the challenge. After 4 games each the girls team placed 2nd in the pool qualifying themselves for the grand final. The boys finished equal first in their pool allowing them to reach the semi finals. The girls played admirably in the GF going down to the grange school 1 try to zero. The boys team faced the toughest competition of the day and where beaten 8 tries to 1 in the final.
Well done all players and thanks Tom for coming and coaching with us.
In the heat, the cold, the wind and the rain netball is played regardless..... My daughters team at Monday night netball
Saturdays are fun days for me. I try and wake early to ride and run. Then in the morning my family and I usually try and spend some quality time do an activity together. We repeat this in the afternoon and try to watch a family movie in the evening. 9pm sees me in bed as Sunday is an early ride for several hours on the bike pedaling my way round the coast.
What does your Saturday look like?
After an inredible game of basketball yesterday at the Division championships our star player arrived home to a nice surpise. Ty had been trialling for a place in the State Country basketball team to play in the Southern Cross Challenge.
To his delight his performances and skill letter were noticed by selectors and he was successful in selection.
Congratulations Ty on a wonderful year.
Leopold PS are celebrating this week national physical education and health week. Our goal is 30 minutes exercise a day following our PHYS ED BINGO card. The winning team drawn by luck receives a second PE class for the week.
Today was team Leopolds division basketball championships. They had the chance to make regional championships. In front of them laid 4 teams all after the same goal. With three huge wins Leopold had to match it with the might of drysdale. All game the lead swapped and the margin was no larger than 2 pts. This was the final margin after 24 minutes of basketball with drysdale being crowned the champions for 2013. Congrats all and thanks to coach howie again.
Grade 5s working hard on their multi stage beep test today. Some love it some hate it. Leopold average almost double national average... Outstanding
This term is all about the outdoors. For me as a teacher I am delivering the final stages of learning for the year for each grand level. This is exciting as I get the chance to see everything tie together. Children will be learning stage 2 or 3 of various fms in the junior grades and in our senior grades children will be challenge with various game sense skills to better their experiences in a game situation. Again all information will be documented using IDOCEO app which has completly changed how I teach.
Sport wise; it is championship term with regional and state finals in athletics, basketball, cricket, lacrosse and rugby.
Professional wise; this term will see for the first time Barwon sth west region teachers come together and develop a yearly curriculum plan that is somewhat consistent across all schools. Our aim is create a model where teachers are engaged in bettering themselves professionally but at the same time develop a curriculum that supports teachers at needs basis. A strong, rich goal and assessment based curriculum will assist all teachers as the move children through a series of skill, fitness, team and risk based activities.
11 weeks of PE left for the year still plenty of work to be done.
Good luck to everyone
